Blooms in Blue
16X16 copper foil and lead came panel. Decorative Solder Detail.
Blooms in Blue is a collaboration piece between myself and glass blower Dominique Caissie. Dominique hand spun the center blue rondel, which gives off rippled blue refractions. I built out from the rondel choosing a variety of special blue glass which include a textured cathedral, iridescent spectrum, baroque in both blue and white, and a soft power blue. The small vine details and flowers were hand painted and kiln fired in my studio using reusche fired enamels.
This creation is a testament to the harmonious fusion of nature and human ingenuity.
The centerpiece of this awe-inspiring glass marvel is a stunning rippled bloom, its petals meticulously crafted to capture the essence of nature's beauty. Each petal like gentle waves on a tranquil pond, creating a mesmerizing play of light and shadow that dances across the room.
As your eyes explore this botanical masterpiece, you'll discover delicate vines gracefully entwining around the flower's stem, a testament to the intricate details woven into the design. These vines, rendered in shades of cerulean and aquamarine, evoke the feeling of a serene garden, inviting you to lose yourself in their intricate twists and turns.
And there, nestled amidst the elegant vines, you'll find smaller blossoms nestled in the glass, as if a secret garden has been hidden within the larger flower. These secondary blooms add depth and complexity to the overall composition, creating a sense of wonder and discovery.
